Sands China Purchases 25,000 kg of Rice from Guizhou's Congjiang County

12,500-kg shipment of Congjiang County white rice arrives at The Venetian Macao

(
Macao, July 11, 2019) – Sands China Ltd. received a 12,500-kg shipment of white rice from Guizhou's Congjiang County July 5 at The Venetian® Macao’s receiving dock, with another 12,500-kg shipment scheduled for next month, reaffirming the company’s support of the Macao SAR government’s call for targeted poverty alleviation in mainland China.

Sands China was the first integrated resort operator in Macao to purchase goods from the impoverished county and the July 5 shipment is the fourth batch of products received to date. Previous shipments have included chili sauce, mineral water, mandarin oranges and Congjiang oranges.

The rice is now being served at the company’s back-of-house dining rooms, which service the company’s more than 28,000 team members.

“Sands China is very pleased with the continued success of our procurement efforts in Congjiang, and we are committed to supporting the ongoing poverty relief work in the county,”
said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “I hope our procurement efforts will help contribute toward the further development of Congjiang, as we continue to explore and expand the range of products purchased from the county.”

Initiated by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the procurement drive with Congjiang seeks to strengthen cooperation between enterprises in the county and Macao, and to support the central government’s nationwide poverty alleviation work.
